Local Holiday Shopping

Shopping local at small businesses this holiday season? As a small business, at Cadence we understand the importance of recycling our revenue back into the local economy, the importance of making personal connections, and supporting local craftsman to continue producing unique goods.

Local Crit

On Wednesday night, Nov. 27th, a raw space in Fort Lauderdale’s tired Riverfront Development cast a glow in the dark arcades along our New River. Local Crit’s opening reception delivered works by Fancie Bishop Good, Jen Stark, Jesse Laino, Carol Prusa, Jill Hotchkiss, Natalia Reparaz, Jessy Nite, Sheila Elias, Nicole Burko and Marian Monteagudo.

Double Vision

Two different styles, two different perspectives captured by the same person. But can they overlap? Join us as we explore the two sides of Emilee Rose. From her whimsical and music inspired photography…

Yarn Bombing 2013

Let’s deck the halls… or maybe the street! Because we’ll be yarn-bombing, y’all! Come help spread the holiday cheer with Cadence on Andrews Ave, November 30th starting at 4pm. We’ll need a helping hand or twenty, to assist in the transformation of the street trees on the 400 Block of N. Andrews Ave. To thank you for…

Be a Mentor, Change a Life

So what does it mean to be a mentor? I’ve had many mentors growing up and still do to this day. In high school, my graphics communication teacher was a mentor motivating me to pursue a design-based career, because she knew I had the potential.

PARK(ing) Day 2013

“So you’re going to sit in a parking spot?” Yeah, it does sound a little weird; and that was the question I was most frequently asked when inviting locals to come experience the 2013 PARK(ing) Day FTL.

Parklets come to FTL

In September 2011 we launched Fort Lauderdale’s first PARK(ing) Day event. We are so excited to see it is catching on. Both the City of Miami and Fort Lauderdale have instituted pilot programs for “Parklets” aimed at encouraging businesses to widen their sidewalk square footage for pedestrian use by utilizing (purchasing) City metered parking spots for a year.

Painted Piano Brigade

For those of you that follow us, you’ve heard a thing or two about FTL Play Your City over the past 3 months. Five donated pianos were re-purposed by local artists and demonstrated a low-cost way to instantly activate public spaces and ultimately improve the livability of the city.

Revel – Behind the Scenes

Why Revel on the Block matters to Cadence As the clock ticks down to the 2nd Revel on the Block, here’s a few fun facts to explain why this event matters to us. 1. ROTB was born from the community’s positive reaction to Better Block FTL. We listened. After the June 16th, 2012 debut of Better…

RE-imagine

On July 27, Revelers will be treated to another fabulous art exhibit in the main exhibit space located at the center of the block. Enjoy the curated show highlighted with live musical performances throughout the day by Corey Bost, Joel DaSilva and the Midnight Howl, Richard Vergez, and Steph Taylor.

Revel on the Block Take 2

Revelers, we’re getting ready again. After a great turn out in January, Revel on the Block in Fat Village Arts District is back.

Little Garden That Could

If you follow Cadence closely you have definitely heard us mention Flagler Garden at some point. A recent hot topic featured in the Sun Sentinel, Tropic Magazine and Inside South Florida the garden has garnered support and followers eager to see the community amenity come to life.
