Cadence provided landscape architectural services to the Downtown Development Authority of Fort Lauderdale’s DowntownFTL Parks Investment Strategy for a reimagination of Huizenga Park. The redesign intent was to reclaim downtown waterfront space for a place to meet, connect and bring visitors closer to the New River
As part of a multi-disciplinary professional advisory team, Cadence participated in the review of the downtown park network, researched successful public/private park project case-studies, performed DDA board workshops and studied existing park spaces in Conceptual Design. Cadence’s redesign submission included multi-generational appeal and took advantage of prime open space to connect the public to the New River, both physically and socially – laying the groundwork for a reimagined Huizenga Park.
To close out the effort, Cadence produced a park visioning briefing book that demonstrated the public health value in public park investment. The briefing book was also a guide and resource issued with the national RFP that went out. Perkins Will was awarded the next phases of design work for Huzienga Park.
