When the homeowners purchased the lot next door to their home in the Las Olas Isles area, they didn’t see a space for a new building. They saw the opportunity to create an outdoor living extension of their home. Inspired by their travels and a deep desire to feel connected to nature within a dense urban environment, the homeowners reached out to Cadence in 2023 to re-wild the plot of land.
The new 10,400-square-foot garden includes a micro-forest of sabal palms, pines and oaks. The canal front space is a sanctuary of wellness, connection, and play. Guided by a native planting palette, the design celebrates texture, movement, and ecological harmony. Two elegant Kettal pavilions offer semi-interior space for music lessons, outdoor classroom activities, yoga sessions, and meditation.
By day, the space reverberates with children’s cheers of curiosity, joyful birdsong, and the gentle rustle of the native tree canopy. By evening, it transforms into a space rooted in the natural cycles of moon light. The Portal garden transcends space and time – pause, look up, and relish in all that nature can provide.
