In 2024, Amelia Island Plantation Community Association (AIPCA) celebrated 50th anniversary and undertook an unique tree inventory and assessment project with the aim of safeguarding its cherished old-growth canopy for future generations. The community’s canopy is a valuable asset for both the environment and the wellbeing of humans and wildlife.
To achieve this, Cadence offered landscape architecture services for the Tree Inventory and Assessment, Tree Canopy Master Plan, and supplemental master planning services for a pilot project area. The project aimed to increase AIPCA’s overall canopy resilience during storm seasons and prepare for future maintenance and replacement of the valuable tree canopy. Cadence worked alongside ISA Certified master arborists, assessed and documented each tree on the community’s common property through a cloud-based tree inventory application.
Furthermore, Cadence produced a Tree Canopy Master Plan document that highlights the current state of trees inventoried, benefits of the canopy, planning for replacement trees, alongside strategies for increasing tree canopy size and diversity. The pilot project area serves as an exhibition of the advantages that a community-wide tree master plan will have for AIPCA. Future plans involve the expansion of this document that will encompass all trees owned by Amelia Island Plantation Community Association.
