Collaborating closely with the developer, Location Ventures, and architecture firm, Touzet Studio, Cadence’s objective was to create a landscape which is responsive to the context of place, creates a synergy with the architecture, and overarchingly operates as a working landscape. The project site neighbors two significant historic buildings and is designed to reflect to the scale, materiality playful geometries, and undertones Miami Beach’s past. The project’s various urban spaces will be supplemented with a robust native landscape palette. URBIN Retreat’s resilient exterior design elements will include solar powered site furnishings, sub-surface water collection cisterns, internal and perimeter rain gardens, suspended pavement systems for urban street trees and indigenous Florida vegetation to increase the on-site biodiversity, while decreasing irrigation consumption.
