Located in the town of Current, a small village located a short trip west of Eleuthera’s famed Harbour Island, this Bahamian hotel site was unique in its effort to rehabilitate the site’s existing buildings. Integrating the hotel into the existing village fabric was also paramount in the master planning of the property. The site audit and master planning exercise was completed with Flying Teeth, Inc, a Bahamas based boutique sustainable hotel operator. Cadence completed inventory and analysis studies of the site and existing buildings as well as a master plan study to understand the site’s physical capacity. Working closely with Flying Teeth, the program, vision, design character and hotel experience were developed for marketing collateral purposes. The site was consciously master planned to mimic the village structure already in place within the Settlement of Current. Accommodations included Beach Bungalows, Ocean Villas and Family Suite, all supported by a centrally located Great House with resort pool, full service restaurant and on-site staff quarters.
