Cadence worked with the homeowner and Architect from the beginning, coordinating demolition of the remodel through implementation of the final design. Located on one of Fort Lauderdale’s prized isles, Sunrise Key is a residence that emphasizes the luxury of outdoor living in South Florida. Cadence collaborated with PowersSchram to provide the client with an airy residence, a space where indoor and outdoor living environments flow seamlessly. Low walls were created to define the entry and allow for additional planting to buffer the front door. The significance of the three-door garage driveway is complemented by the addition of planting beds with layers of coastal grasses.
The waterfront side of the home boasts over 2,000 square feet of outdoor living space adjacent to the updated pool and new spa. Views to the Intracoastal Waterway are open, but minimally screened by adding a stand of palms that gives the residents a sense of enclosure. Specimen clumps of black bamboo, Sylvester date palms, a curved Sabal palm and a potted cocktail tree create the unique plant palette for this coastal retreat. The private entry courtyard greets visitors with a custom concrete fountain and basin. The contemporary piece was designed by the Cadence and built by a local concrete craftsman.
