Cadence conducted full services for landscape and site design of the Hampton Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Marina. Cadence worked along side project architects to develop a standard Hampton Hotel building footprint into a landscape architectural design where the site and experience reflects the hotel’s location amidst the heart of Fort Lauderdale’s marine industry. Outdoor materials consist of indigenous natural stone, recycled composite wood, custom aluminum panels and stainless steel applications to weather the marine environment. In addition to native palm trees, green screens will be incorporated into the facades of the parking garage to provide layers of visual barriers to the cars hidden within.
The hotel’s arrival court is set on center with the lobby and open air terrace which overlooks the marina courtyard. A canal front pavilion with water taxi service has been designed as the terminus for the courtyard’s focal point and will also serve as a public amenity. The new complete street front design will consist of a generous sidewalk, on street parking, bike racks, a street-front seating plaza and several areas for seating along the native palm walkway, connecting the hotel and parking garage to nearby shops and dining options. The marina front promenade displays curved sabal palms and native understory trees, screening the surface parking and garage, while providing an attractive walk along the Seminole River.
