The new Ruth & Minor Vinck Family Therapy Garden is located in an area of The Glen’s campus that was being underutilized. It is now designated as a therapeutic garden to serve as a secure space for residents in The Glen’s dementia care unit. The garden provides ample space for residents, as well as their visitors to gather, rest and explore by means of a continuous paved path. Along the path are various seating configurations: a covered seating area, a glider, benches with arm rest and backs and integrated seating on a raised planting bed. Providing visual interest along the path are raised planters and hanging wall plantings in addition to a sculptural memorial. Shade trees and a palette of native flowering plants and grasses create layers of texture and color that attract birds and butterflies.
