Margulies Agency breaths temporary life into the Riverfront

On Wednesday night, Nov. 27th, a raw space in Fort Lauderdale’s tired Riverfront Development cast a glow in the dark arcades along our New River. Local Crit’s opening reception delivered works by Fancie Bishop Good, Jen Stark, Jesse Laino, Carol Prusa, Jill Hotchkiss, Natalia Reparaz, Jessy Nite, Sheila Elias, Nicole Burko and Marian Monteagudo. The temporary exhibit is said by organizers, The Michael Margulies Agency, to be “designed as a community mechanism to re engage the greater Fort Lauderdale and Miami’s arts communities. It’s a self analysis between both cities in an ever expanding art scene.” And we say hallelujah! Nothing gets us a more excited than the reimagination of space.

This small, empty retail space simply demonstrated how a carefully curated art exhibit can transform a space into a venue that inspires. One small step for Fort Lauderdale’s growing contemporary art scene, one giant leap for creative space use in our downtown!

If you are putting Art Basel on your to do list this weekend (and you should) add a stop by Local Crit and NSU | Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale (across the street) on your way down to Miami. Information and location below for Local Crit appointments.
