Cadence News

Knights Foundation

On February 16th-18th, Cadence attended the 7th annual Media Learning Seminar. The seminar was held in Downtown Miami and was free to registered users thanks to the support and sponsorship of the Miami based Knight Foundation. Knight Foundation focuses on innovative ideas that promote quality journalism, engages communities and strengthens the arts.

Closing of Pose Opposite

The Cadence Pop-up Gallery exists to highlight progressive and contemporary design as it relates to the living environments we encounter as humans. The gallery seeks to showcase artists, designers and creators who explore functional art and design.

Opening of Pose Opposite

“Pose Opposite” has been a very consistent concept within the work. There is a sense of reflection, questioning and acceptance in each painting. In this regard, “Pose” takes on the following meanings: to affect a particular mental attitude, to represent oneself falsely and to question closely.

Be a Mentor, Change a Life

So what does it mean to be a mentor? I’ve had many mentors growing up and still do to this day. In high school, my graphics communication teacher was a mentor motivating me to pursue a design-based career, because she knew I had the potential.

PARK(ing) Day 2013

“So you’re going to sit in a parking spot?” Yeah, it does sound a little weird; and that was the question I was most frequently asked when inviting locals to come experience the 2013 PARK(ing) Day FTL.

Parklets come to FTL

In September 2011 we launched Fort Lauderdale’s first PARK(ing) Day event. We are so excited to see it is catching on. Both the City of Miami and Fort Lauderdale have instituted pilot programs for “Parklets” aimed at encouraging businesses to widen their sidewalk square footage for pedestrian use by utilizing (purchasing) City metered parking spots for a year.
