Rethinking the way we use our public streetscapes.

On Friday, September 19th, join Cadence as we celebrate our 4th rendition of PARK(ing) Day FTL. This year’s installation by Cadence will be held in two city parking spots at NW 5th Street and N. Andrews Avenue in the Flagler Village neighborhood and will run from 9am – 4pm. Frankie Dogs Gourmet Veggie Dogs will be on site for your lunch needs from 11:30am-2pm.

PARK(ing) Day is an annual, one-day, global event that promotes the importance of green and urban public spaces. PARK(ing) Day is intended to help people rethink the way we use public urban spaces. The concept of PARK(ing) Day is based on the idea that filling the parking meter is like ‘renting’ a public space.

PARK(ing) Day was originally created in 2005 by Rebar, a San Francisco-based art and design studio, as an experimental exploration in repurposing public space. Since then, it has been creatively adapted and sparked imaginations around the world.

We hope others will be inspired by Rebar’s experiment and host their own #PARKingDay on 9/19: http://parkingday.org/participate.

Those who wish to participate are welcome to share information on their location through the PARK(ing) Day FTL Facebook page and by using the hashtag #PARKingDayFTL. They can also place their location on the global map on http://parkingday.org/participate. Any questions on the rules can be answered on the FAQ section on Parkingday.org.
