Artist Statement:

“Pose Opposite” has been a very consistent concept within the work. There is a sense of reflection, questioning and acceptance in each painting. In this regard, “Pose” takes on the following meanings: to affect a particular mental attitude, to represent oneself falsely and to question closely. In questioning what affects us by looking more closely at the manifestations we create from representing ourselves falsely, we experience growth through self identity. “Opposite” lends itself to growth, experience, failure and the necessity to live through that which interferes with the journey to know oneself. To live through what we learn to be untrue.
